After Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan’s Vikram Vedha remake too gets postponed due to Coronavirus pandemic

Vikram Vedha remake will reunite Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan after Dil Chahta Hai, which released in 2001. It was directed by Farhan Akhtar and also featured Akshaye Khanna, Sonali Kulkarni, Preity Zinta and Dimple Kapadia in pivotal roles.

Due to the pandemic situation, many big-budget projects came to a standstill and among them is Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh starrer Laal Singh Chaddha. The 40 per cent of the shooting is still left and there are high chances that it might miss its original Christmas weekend release and release in 2021. While Aamir Khan has stated that he will not resume the shoot until the situation comes under control, the coronavirus crisis has also affected his next project, which is the Vikram Vedha remake co-starring Saif Ali Khan.

A source close to the actor told, “Almost 40 per cent of Laal Singh Chaddha remains to be shot. Aamir is certain that he will not return to the set until the situation improves. He does not want to risk the safety of the cast and crew at any cost. In all likelihood, he will resume shooting only after October and is eyeing a Christmas 2021 release for the film. He has informed Neeraj Pandey, who is producing Vikram Vedha, that he will begin work on the thriller only after the release of Laal Singh Chadha.” The source further added, “The actor, who is spending the lockdown in his Panchgani bungalow, will re-work his dates for the movie after he returns to the city.

Reportedly, Pushkar-Gayathri, who directed the original project, will come for the remake as well and it will be co-produced by Baby, A Wednesday and Special 26 director Neeraj Pandey, who bought the remake rights of the film. The original venture featured Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan and was one of the biggest hits of 2017. It will mark the reunion of Aamir and Saif after Dil Chahta Hai, which released in 2001.
